consistent orientation program for all new employees creates an immediate
positive impression, helps them build on their full potential to become

three-tiered orientation process recognized as Best Practices by the

The orientation process (rather than one-day event) allows new employees to
assimilate a wealth of information gradually, within realistic time frames,
introducing new employees first to their work team and then to their division
Managers, often short on time for training implementation, appreciate having
easy-to-use tools to ensure quality, timely, consistent new employee
orientation. Materials for the orientation process include a Leader’s Guide
for the new employee’s manager, Master and Team Checklists for the
Orientation Team, a Welcome Package for new employees, Division and Corporate
Orientation materials and videos, and an Orientation Process video for the
Orientation Team. The materials can be produced as hard copy manuals and/or
reside on your intranet.
- Team Orientation shapes employees’ perception of their roles. During this
training, the Orientation Team--Leader, Mentor, and Administrative
Assistant--welcomes new employees, provides them with the information they
need to perform their new assignments, and makes them part of the Orientation
Team. Each team member receives a comprehensive checklist, with time frames,
of critical information to provide new employees during the Orientation
Process, including survival tips (“lessons learned”); employee benefits,
resources and services; policies and procedures; and position and team
- Division and Corporate Orientation help employees bring Company mission and
values into focus so that they connect their job assignments to Company
goals. New employees attend Division Orientation to learn division
structure, mission, values, products and services, policies and procedures.
They attend Corporate Orientation Training to learn Corporate history,
mission, values, philosophy, policies and procedures.
